Overview

Orvix ERP is a complete business management system for small and medium businesses in Pakistan that need dependable software without relying on an internet connection or paying monthly subscriptions. It is built with Laravel 12 and shipped as a native Windows desktop app through NativePHP and Electron, with all data stored locally in SQLite.

My Role

I designed and developed the application end to end as the full stack developer, from database design and business logic to the user interface, desktop packaging and the licensing system.

Challenges & Solutions

Slow startup: The app originally took around 60 seconds to cold-start. I precompiled and bundled the views and optimised the Electron build, bringing startup down to under 5 seconds.
Keeping data safe during updates: I built a custom ProgramData runtime so the database, uploads and settings survive software updates and reinstalls.
Unstable login sessions: I resolved NativePHP session handling issues on Windows so login and logout work reliably.
Images without a web server: I added a custom storage file-serving route so product images and logos load fully offline.
Protecting the software: I implemented an Ed25519 cryptographic license system to prevent unauthorised copies.

Delivery

Packaged as a Windows NSIS installer that installs like any desktop software. It runs completely offline, with no internet connection or monthly fees required.
